Siemens supports hybrid bus production
On 13-6, Siemens Corporation and Vietnam Motor Industry of Vietnam (Vinamotor) signed cooperation to implement the application of transmission (hybrid) for urban buses in Vietnam.

ELFA bus models will be produced and put into trial run in 2012 with the essential components of transmission and the Siemens technical support and supply, while Vinamotor will provide production frame and parts remaining to complete the form bus. With ELFA hybrid force transmission technology from Siemens, the urban bus can be up to 50% reduction of fuel consumption, thus significantly reducing operating costs. This technology also helps to reduce the negative environmental impact by reducing emissions while delivering maximum comfort for passengers. ELFA is the hybrid technology used in traditional combustion engine with a generator and electric motor, combined with the advanced storage device. These devices allow the energy generated when braking is converted into electricity and stored instead of losing (in the regular city buses). Energy storage is reused when the vehicle launch and acceleration. Depending on the storage capacity of the system, this bus can run totally by electricity, which is not totally emissions, especially in the downtown area and at the bus stop. In addition, passengers will feel more comfortable with less noise than buses, especially at startup and acceleration is very smooth.
