New manufacturing equipment converting energy from ocean waves

The wave resource is renewable and endless detected abundant quantities all over the planet. However, the effect of converting wave motion into electrical energy pose challenges, due in part to compensate for the difficulty of relatively low speed and by the irregular motion of waves.
Researchers at the University of Beira Interior, Portugal has designed and simulated a new device converts the energy to tackle both challenges (low speed and irregular movements).
The proposed device consists of a floating mass attached to a generator to convert the new type, called a generator or two-dimensional linear transformation (LSRG), which can directly convert energy from wave motion wave, moving up and down in the details of the device. In a report published in the journal Renewable and Sustainable Energy, the author claims the new generator has the advantage, that the high energy density and powerful, and easy to model and manufacture. |
