Developing methods tsunami warning by GPS
A group of German scientists have developed a method of tsunami warnings more quickly and accurately by GPS, Nature World News said on 18th May.

Accordingly, this method will provide early warning of tsunamis based on data from the Global Positioning System (GPS) to measure ground deformation caused by the earthquake. This method is particularly effective for countries with large satellite networks, and may help scientists to provide a precise warning tsunami only minutes after the earthquake, much faster compared with traditional methods.

Currently, the methods traditionally tsunami warning could take up to 10 minutes to calculate and transfer the collected data from seismographs.
Research earthquake disaster and tsunami in Japan in month of 3-2011, scientists to know if system GPS is used, time to have been accurate information about degrees of height and intensity of tsunami will save 3 minutes.
In this study, the scientists used the raw data of Network Earth observation GPS in Japan (Geonet) the day before the earthquake. To shorten time necessary for tsunami warning, scientists only use 50 in total number 1,200 stations GPS at east coast of Japan.
By using the GPS data, scientists can use computers to simulate earthquake intensity and calculate height, tsunami intensity to give warnings.
