Detecting Diseases with a Drop of Blood
A prototype chip able to detect viruses or diseases from a single drop of blood could soon make easier, and quicker, for doctors to complete their diagnoses

In development by a team from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the individual devices are spaced six microns apart—the same size as a single cell. Their structure is based around carbon nanotubes, which are crucial in detecting the presence of the cells. Sensors within the device measure the electrical properties of the blood cells, which allows the team to detect variances and, eventually, detect sick cells based on these differences in charges.
