The research measured technical efficiency and its determinants in peanut production at household farmers in Tra Vinh province using a primary data of 122 peanut farmers surveyed in three districts, such as Cau Ngang, Duyen Hai and Tra Cu collected by quota sampling. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Tobit regression model were adapted to measure technical efficiency and analyze determinants of technical efficiency.

The result showed that the mean of technical efficiency of peanut growing farmers was 91.5%. Further, the result of the Tobit model showed that race, training, credit access, experiences, members of a farmers’ association are important determinants to improve the technical efficiency, meanwhile, age of farmers was found negatively affect their technical efficiency in peanut production.
