|
Overview of meeting.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed Vietnam and Mozambique have a long-term relationship and similarities, that is agriculture still plays a key role in the economy; Are the most vulnerable countries due to climate change and etc.
However, the two countries have a lot of potentials to cooperate and support each other in agricultural development. The two sides signed a Government-level agreement on agricultural cooperation in 2008.
The project "Cooperation in research and development of food and food plants in Mozambique for the period 2013-2017" was implemented under this Agreement supported by Mozambique Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong, after 3 years of implementation, the project has initially brought some results in enhancing research and development capacity of food crops, applying mechanization.
For cooperation potential, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong appreciated that Mozambique has a large land resource, with the advantages of developing industrial and forestry crops, such as coconut, cotton, soybean and sugarcane. These Vietnamese products have large use demand. |
