On May 10, 2019, at the Can Tho Advanced Science and Technology Center, taking place the workshop on "Application of radiation technology to serve the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta", the event organized by the Atomic Energy Department - Ministry of Science and Technology, the Union of Science and Technology Associations and Can Tho Department of Science and Technology. Attending the workshop, there were experts, scientists, managers, individuals and businesses in the Mekong Delta.

The workshop was organized to introduce radiation technologies, potential applications in the fields of health, agriculture, industry and environmental resources; facilitating the exchange and discussion among managers, scientists and leading experts on the need and solutions for cooperation in nuclear technology application for socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta.
At the workshop, participants listened to reports on the role and prospect of radiation and isotope application for socio-economic development and the application of isotopic techniques in some fields, such as research on water resources, study the changing trend of Vietnam's coastline under the impact of climate change and sea level rise, application in high-tech radiotherapy in cancer treatment, application used in agriculture, production of rare earth preparations and etc.
On that basis, delegates discussed the needs and solutions of cooperation to enhance the application of related technologies for socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta. |
