Training to raise awareness about intellectual property at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology

Recently, Department of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized a training course "Awareness raising on intellectual property at universities" with experts from the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam.

Attending the training session, there were Mr. Le Tat Chien - Deputy Director of Research, Training and Support Center, Consulting, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (IP); Mr. Pham Van Kien - Patent Assessment Center, NOIP; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Xuan Lam - Vice Principal, together with leaders and lecturers of the Faculties / Institutes at the school.
Opening speech of the training session, Assoc. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam emphasized the importance of IP issues and expressed his desire that HUTECH lecturers will improve their understanding of IP issues not only domestically but also internationally. In the recent years, although IP issues have been more concerned, in general, the establishment of patent protection for research products has not been fully realized.
According to the agenda, in the morning, the expert of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam - Mr. Le Tat Chien shared information on various types of intellectual property rights; classify intellectual property; assess and make statistics on the current status of science and technology activities and intellectual property awareness within universities and research institutes as well as the need to protect intellectual property. Following that, in the afternoon, Mr. Pham Van Kien shared with HUTECH lecturers how to search for patent information in Vietnam as well as in the world; training skills in writing patent descriptions and patent protection procedures for their research products.
This training program is very important for HUTECH lecturers in scientific research, especially when research products are put into commercialization, requiring legal protection./. |
