The second "Students with Intellectual Property Rights" (S&IP) Contest in 2021 was launched. With the topic "From ideas to business opportunities", this will be a playground for students in the southern region to implement innovative startup projects applying digital technology platforms.

S&IP is an annual event organized by the National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) in collaboration with the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (IP) - Ministry of Science and Technology to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day (April 26) and Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18).

This year, the topic S&IP 2021 is chosen as "From ideas to business opportunities" for students, groups of students studying at universities in the South (from Da Nang to Ca Mau).

According to the organization Board, this is an activity aimed at promoting innovation activities among students, taking advantage of opportunities brought by the 4.0 Technology Revolution, promoting connection activities between universities and businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, and raise students' awareness of the role of intellectual property in digital transformation.

In addition, the contest also promotes creativity, creating a useful scientific and intellectual playground for students. From ideas, initiatives, donations or specific solutions given by students at this contest, the organization Board will have solutions to support, deploy, incubate to create potential startups or facilitate the introduction of students' start-up projects to international markets.

Especially, because the contest was assigned to the Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer VNU-HCM in coordination with VNU-HCM Software Technology Park and Center for Research, Training and Consultancy Support - NOIP organized projects will be implemented to protect intellectual property rights for qualified projects, contributing to increasing the number of intellectual property registration applications.

In terms of conditions, projects participating in S&IP 2021 must meet the following criteria: Innovative startup projects applying digital technology platforms; Solve specific problems of practice; The contest project has never won any provincial / city awards or higher; The project participated in S&IP 2020 but has not won the Top 10 award; The project does not infringe intellectual property rights according to current regulations.

Mr. Ngo Huu Thong, Chief of Office of Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer VNU-HCM, Standing Committee of the Organization Board, said that the contest will start receiving online documents at: https: // iptc .vn / sip / until the end of June 2021.

Expected in April 2021, the workshop to launch the "Student Competition with Intellectual Property Rights" (S&IP 2021) will be held together with online voting for the  award "Top10 beloved projects" and pre-selected about 30 excellent projects to go to the next round.
