Promoting digital transformation in small and medium enterprises
The digital transformation for small and medium enterprises will be the decisive factor in whether or not Vietnam has a comprehensive digital economy.

According to statistics, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) account for 98% of the total number of operating enterprises. Therefore, whether the digital transformation for this bloc is successful or not will be the decisive factor in whether or not Vietnam has a comprehensive digital economy. Thererfore, SME sector is using 70% of the workforce and contributing about 50% of GDP, if digital transformation is successful for this sector, GDP will increase by about 30 billion USD. At the same time, digital transformation enterprises will have twice the productivity and profits as similar businesses but have not yet converted.

Also in 2022, the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the Digital Transformation Assessment Toolkit (DBI), in which SME is the main group of businesses to be assessed. With many specific and detailed metrics, through DBI, SMEs can proactively determine their digital transformation situation, thereby receiving advice from experts to come up with a suitable digital transformation roadmap.
