Raising the level of comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States: Opportunity to promote new, breakthrough cooperation
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that President Joe Biden's visit and the event of elevating relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership will create opportunities to promote new and groundbreaking areas of cooperation to enable Vietnam to be present in global value chains, especially in the field of supplying raw materials, components, and equipment for the energy industry, aviation, digital economy, and artificial intelligence applications, and etc.


Minister Nguyen Hong Dien: Large US corporations, such as Intel, Apple, Google, Boeing, Walmart... are researching and investing in expanding supply chains in Vietnam.

At the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, US President Joe Biden will pay a state visit to Vietnam from September 10 to 11, 2023.

In the evening of September 10, immediately after the high-level talks, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Joe Biden spoke to the Vietnamese, US and international press, informing about the good results of the meeting. Accordingly, the two sides adopted a Joint Declaration, raising the level of Vietnam-US relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien shared the results and prospects for developing economic, industrial and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the United States.

The two sides also established the Vietnam-US Energy Security Dialogue mechanism. In the near future, there will be new cooperation frameworks, such as the Fair Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) to support Vietnam in realizing its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, accelerating the process of reaching peak emissions, greenhouse gases and the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that in the energy sector, Vietnam has asked the United States to have specific activities to support Vietnam in implementing an effective energy transition process.
