Promoting two-wheeled electric vehicle initiatives in Vietnam

On June 12, 2024 in Hanoi, the University of Transport Technology organized a workshop "Promoting two-wheeled electric vehicle initiatives in Vietnam" with the participation of managers, scientists from universities, research institutes, businesses, and agencies inside and outside the Transport industry.

Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Vice Principal of the University of Transport Technology said that as a public university under the Ministry of Transport, the University trains high-quality human resources in the direction of application, scientific research and technology transfer, contributing to implementing 2 out of 3 strategic breakthroughs in Vietnam's socio-economic development. In recent years, the University's scientific research, application and technology development activities have progressed, achieving many good results, contributing to improving the quality of training, fostering human resources and the development of human resources of the industry.
In 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 876/QD-TTg approving the Action Program on green energy conversion and reducing carbon and methane emissions of the transportation sector. With the view that green energy transformation is the most basic and important task in the process of implementing green growth goals as well as implementing Vietnam's commitments on net zero emissions at the 26th Conference of party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).
Accordingly, the University of Transportation Technology has been proactive in researching and proposing solutions to protect the environment, respond to climate change, and green transportation. The school has coordinated with domestic and foreign partners to successfully implement many projects, such as collaborating with the United Nations Environment Program to implement the project "Trends of traveling by electric vehicles in Vietnam" and Project "Supporting electric transportation in Vietnam"; cooperate with the European Commission, coordinate with the Hanoi Department of Transport to carry out the task of "Integrating electric mobility solutions in urban areas in the context of the Paris Agreement, sustainable development goals and the Program New urban agenda - SOLUTIONSplus", including a pilot program to use 2-wheeled electric vehicles to connect public passenger transport from Van Khe BRT station to Aeon Maill Ha Dong Shopping Center.
Through projects, the University of Transport Technology has proposed solutions, initiatives and policy advice to help Hanoi City and the Ministry of Transport deploy solutions to use clean, environmentally friendly means of transport, better serving the implementation of Vietnam's action plan and commitments in environmental protection and response to climate change. |
