Connecting cooperation in scientific research, technology development and promoting innovation between Vietnam and Korea
Through the Project “Korea-Vietnam Partners for the Future through Research, Development and Innovation” (Project), Korea wishes to share its experiences with Vietnam in areas of strength, such as technology assessment capacity, technology transfer, commercialization of research results, etc.

That was shared by Mr. Yim Deok Soon, Head of the Project Survey Team at the working session with Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat on July 30, 2024 in Hanoi.

At the reception, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat said that science, technology and innovation (S&I) is one of the important pillars recognized by the senior leaders of Vietnam and Korea in the Joint Statement on cooperation relations, the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partners and is also one of the key contents of the State visit to Vietnam by President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol in June 2023.

During this visit, President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea affirmed that he will provide non-refundable ODA aid of 30 million USD to Vietnam to support the development of science, technology and innovation, to implement an important project on the Korea-Vietnam partners for the future through research, development and innovation.

On that basis, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology have actively implemented this task. This is the second time KOICA has organized a survey delegation with members being scientists and managers to Vietnam to work at the Ministry of Science and Technology and a number of related research institutions.

The Minister acknowledged the results achieved by both sides during the survey trips and especially the results of the second survey trip of the Delegation which had important significance in the implementation of the Project. The content agreed by both sides is an important basis for implementation, promoting increasingly in-depth and substantive cooperation in the coming time.
