Initially, Mr. Binh experimented with raising bees for honey in his family's Ido longan garden, with a quantity of 5 boxes. The bees' food mainly came from the family's longan flowers and neighboring gardens. At first, due to lack of technical knowledge, Mr. Binh raised bees in the traditional way, so the amount of honey he collected was not much. Each time he harvested, he could only collect 5-7 liters of honey. Realizing that supply could not meet demand and wanting to further increase production, Mr. Binh planned to learn about the highly effective process of raising bees for honey from social networking sites and neighboring gardens.
In early 2022, Mr. Binh expanded the model and increased the number of bees to 20 boxes. According to Mr. Binh, beekeeping does not take much time to care for or land area, but can take advantage of the shade in the garden to place the bee boxes. With 20 bee boxes, Mr. Binh harvests 4-5 times/year and each time he collects 15-20 liters of honey, selling for 300,000 VND/liter. Currently, Mr. Binh raises bees using natural methods, bees collect honey mainly from longan flowers, plum flowers, guava flowers, and etc. Because he does not use sugar to feed the bees, the quality of honey from Mr. Binh's garden is sweet, delicious, and is favored by many customers. In addition to retailing in the garden, Mr. Binh also sells honey on YouTube, Facebook, Tiktok, Zalo, and etc. so his income is quite stable. |
