Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized that science and technology in agriculture does not simply focus on increasing productivity and output, but also aims to create added value by integrating multi-dimensional values in each product. For example: ecological agriculture, circular agriculture, organic agriculture, and green agriculture with the goal of reducing costs and building brands for Vietnamese agricultural products.
According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, the application of high technology in agricultural production is an important solution to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the agricultural value chain. Advanced technologies, such as biotechnology, information technology, and automation not only help increase productivity but also reduce production costs and protect the environment.
The country has witnessed the emergence of many production models with high economic value, such as models applying high technology in the production of rice, fruits, flowers, livestock, aquaculture and forestry products. Typical examples are the large-scale field model and specialized model in Can Tho with an average revenue of 500 million VND/ha/year, or the super-intensive shrimp farming model in Bac Lieu with a productivity of 80 tons/ha and a revenue of up to 9.2 billion VND/ha. These models have made an important contribution to the strong shift of agricultural exports from informal to formal channels, with the total export turnover for the period 2021-2023 reaching over 155.2 billion USD, and expected to reach 55-56 billion USD in 2024.
Chairman and Director of Viba Banana Cooperative (Hoa Binh province) Tran Trung Duc said that currently, Viba Banana Cooperative is the largest and most prestigious banana producer in the North, and the Viba (Vietnam banana) brand has been registered for exclusive protection with the National of Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology).
To compete and "survive", the Cooperative applies science and technology to production. All red bananas are grown and cared for according to VietGAP standards; processed, selected, packaged according to standards, preserved using a cold storage system, especially vinegar with safe ethylene gas. |
