Ca Mau: Producing clean crystallized salt on canvas

The model of producing clean crystallized salt on canvas in Ca Mau, especially in Tan Thuan salt village, has brought many outstanding benefits compared to the traditional method. The use of HDPE canvas helps to reduce impurities, improve the quality of salt with NaCl content of over 95%, and increase productivity by 29-33%.

During the production season from November to April of the lunar calendar, the project was implemented on an area of 106.8 hectares, harvesting 10,440.15 tons of salt, with crystallized salt on the canvas reaching nearly 6,900 tons and a profit of nearly 95 million VND/ha, 2.5 times higher than the traditional method.
This model also helps save time and labor, minimize damage caused by irregular rains, and can quickly reproduce. Ca Mau Department of Science and Technology has accepted the project, confirmed the successful results and created conditions for the sustainable development of the local salt industry.
