Thoroughly treat wastes from craft villages
For many years, the collection, transportation and treatment of waste in craft villages and rural areas of Hanoi have not been carried out effectively, leading to widespread dumping of waste, causing environmental pollution and affecting people's health.

Garbage dumped indiscriminately in La Phu commune, Hoai Duc district.

In particular, in La Phu commune (Hoai Duc district), since the beginning of 2025, dozens of tons of expired cakes and candies have been thrown away with household waste, causing pollution and attracting insects and rats.

The hot weather causes these cakes to become watery and smell bad, making people unhappy. Although Thanh Cong Environmental Company has been in charge of collecting household wastes for many years, wastes from craft villages, especially expired cakes and candies and production by-products, are not included in the list of household waste, so it is difficult to collect and process, leading to frequent garbage congestion and causing high costs for local authorities.

Meanwhile, other craft villages in Hoai Duc district: Duong Lieu, Cat Que, Minh Khai also face the problem of agricultural processing wastes, such as cassava residue, galangal, and untreated wastewater discharged into the environment, causing serious pollution. Although Hanoi has invested in wastewater treatment systems, such as Cau Nga factory with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day and night, it has not yet treated all the generated wastewater, causing pollution to persist. Faced with this situation, the city government has implemented many solutions, such as relocating production households, building concentrated industrial clusters and investing in waste and wastewater treatment systems to control pollution, protect the environment and public health. However, the management and treatment of waste in craft villages still face many challenges that need to be further resolved to bring a cleaner and safer environment for residents.

However, the issue of waste treatment in craft villages needs to be resolved synchronously, especially from the people's side. Production facilities need to focus on improving and upgrading modern, environmentally friendly production technology; be aware of preserving and protecting the environment, and join hands in building a green, clean, and beautiful environment. In addition, authorities need to strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of regulations on environmental protection in craft villages; and handle polluting facilities.
