Science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are the driving forces for Ho Chi Minh City to develop breakthroughs
On June 9, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the progress of implementing Resolution No. 57/NQTW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo, aiming to make a breakthrough in the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.


Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, emphasized that the Resolution considers these areas as the main driving force for the rapid and sustainable development of the city, with many practical activities that have been and are being implemented, contributing to promoting innovation. Notable results include the startup ecosystem entering the Top 5 in Southeast Asia and ranking 110 in the world by 2025, especially in fintech and blockchain; and the contribution of science and technology to overall growth, of which TFP accounts for 74%.

In the recent times, Ho Chi Minh City has achieved many achievements in digital government, such as providing 740 online public service procedures, e-commerce accounting for 33% of the country, and taking the lead in applying AI in healthcare, transportation and other fields, ranking second in digital transformation in 2023 and 2024. To continue developing, the city will expand AI training courses, launch the "Digital Education for All" movement, perfect institutional policies, build breakthrough resolutions on attracting high-quality human resources, research projects, such as ordering training of high-quality human resources, promoting innovation, supporting high-tech startups, and technology infrastructure projects, such as 5G coverage, attracting investment in data centers and expanding information technology parks. At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City aims to develop international-level human resources, build a data-based digital government, improve the quality of online public services and apply AI in many fields.

In her conclusion, Vice President Tran Thi Dieu Thuy emphasized the pioneering role of Ho Chi Minh City in realizing the spirit of Resolution No. 57. With a strategic vision, the city identifies science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as breakthrough solutions to improve labor productivity, competitiveness and quality of life. These are the key driving forces for Ho Chi Minh City to maintain its role as the economic, cultural and scientific center of the country in the coming time.
