War invalid manufactures helicopter
An engineer who is also a war invalid spent three years to manufacture a small helicopter in his garage, at the cost of VND200 million ($10,000).

In a 1,500sq.m warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong, mechanical engineer Nguyen Bui Hien said that he had just completed his work, a super-light helicopter.

This product is 250kg in weight, 2.95m long, 1.2m wide, 2.4m height, equipped with engine of 106 horse power, which can turn 6,500 revolutions per minute. The airplane can carry around 100kg.

“Around three years ago, my toy airplane broke down while flying. Returning home, I wondered why I did not manufacture an airplane of myself,” Mr. Hien explained why he made this product.

He searched the Internet to find documents on helicopter manufacturing but theory is different from the fact, so he failed several times. He handed over his garage to his son to focus his mind in manufacturing an airplane.

Besides the engine, which he bought at the price of VND60 million ($3,000), which is the engine of a motorboat, Mr. Hien manufactured all other components at his own enterprise. He said that his product still lacks important parts, like speed and height meters, but it can fly.

According to Hien, the airplane can fly at the height of 200m, with speed of 150-200km/hour. The vehicle can run with normal gasoline. He is practicing to fly the airplane.

At his warehouse, the airplane can take off and fly at the height of 1m. Hien said that his airplane can take off, so it can fly.

He will ask permission to test the airplane outdoors.
