The overall objective of the study determines a general program of the development of science and technology in Can Tho city in the period 2011-2015 and the vision to 2030 in order to orient to construct and develop science and technology of the city really which is a driving force of socio-economic development and strive to make Can Tho city to become center of scientific and technological dynamics of the Mekong Delta.

To achieve these objectives, the research team will assess the real status of science and technology of Can Tho city in the period 2001 - 2010, the result of performance of scientific and technological development program of Can Tho city in the period 2006 - 2010 and the vision to 2020; the role of science and technology for economic and social development of Can Tho city in the period 2001 - 2010, 2011-2015 and orientation to 2030; objectives and orientation of the scientific and technological development program of Can Tho City in the period 2011 - 2015 and the vision to 2030; the contents and the main tasks of the scientific and technological development program of Can Tho City in the phase is from 2011 to 2015 and the vision to 2030.

The theme is implemented successfully; the author will provide a theoretical basis for the orientated development of the concerned areas. This is a basis to create a co-operation between the authorities in development of science and technology, serving for the direction and orientation of scientific and technological development in the process of industrialization - modernization in Can Tho city.
