Sprinkler technology uses solar energy
Polytechnic University of Ho Chi Minh City has deployed application of sprinkler technologies use solar energy to help people in Ninh Thuan having conditional expansion of cultivated area, reducing investment costs, improving effective production, concurrently contributing to protection of the ecological environment.

This technology takes advantage of sunlight, through connected systems, installed as batteries, chargers, converters to generate electricity flow. Farmers will use this power to attach to sprinkler’s motor for irrigation of crops.

The application of this technology, farmers not only have electricity resource for household use, but also it serves for both production, energy conservation in production costs, labor conservation and conservation of 30 - 50% of irrigation water than conventional irrigation methods.

In addition, this technology also helps people to improve production efficiency, anti-sand fly situation, jumping into sand, limiting growth and development, affecting crops’ yields. However, investment costs install technology systems were quite expensive (approximately 100 million VND) but they have a quite long use time, about 15 years. Installing a sprinkler system uses solar energy for irrigation is approximately 4,000 m2 production land.

The project began to deploy pilot of an irrigation system on a bean production area of 4,000 m2 of Nguyen Huu Luong family in the Tu Tam village 2, Phuoc Hai Commune, Ninh Phuoc district.
