The information was announced at the conference "Future climate prediction with high resolution," by Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), University of Natural Science coordinated with and the Australian Scientific and Industrial Research Organization to hold this conference on 22/8, in Hanoi.
At the conference, the experts investigated project of future climate prediction with high resolution for Vietnam. They forecasted the temperature in the North will increase from 0, 8 ° C to 3, 4 ° C by 2050 and it continues increase to the end of the 21st century. Along with that, some hot days will increase (over 35 ° C) and it can last up to 5 days and affect agricultural production.
Rainfall is estimated over 7 climate regions that will change, range from under 16% to over 36% by mid-century and faster change in late 21st century. Along with that, summer precipitation may fall across much of the region, particularly in middle regions; rainfall tends to increase in all seasons of year.
In a similar morphology, hurricane activity in the east sea also tends to reduce, but intensity may be stronger, it can cause flooding and landslides, especially in mountainous areas in the northern, Middle regions and Highland.
In addition, the research results of project of predictable future climate with high resolution for Vietnam is also estimated sea levels will continue to rise from 100mm to 400mm by mid-century throughout Vietnam coast, and it will continue to be maintained until the end of the 21st century, affecting the ecosystem and coastal communities.
General assessment of actual climate change, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha also said: "Climate change is now showing changes are difficultly predictable, with more extreme weather patterns. Until now, climate change remains a difficult problem not only challenges the real situation in Vietnam, but it also take place in countries around the globe. "
To enhance scientific capacity and understand impact of climate change in Vietnam and contribute to prevention and reduction of the regrettable damages, Deputy Minister Tran Hong Ha suggested the relative organizations, units associated to construct scenarios of climate change that will be updated in 2015. |
