Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said at the ceremony

Attending the ceremony, there were Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha, Mr.Nguyen Van Tai, Chief Institute of Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Vu Si Tuan, Deputy General Director of General Department of Vietnam Sea and Islands, representatives of German Hanns-Seidel Foundation (Professional organization operates and supports for environmental issues - global climate change) and numerous ministries, agencies and media agencies.

At the announcement ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Tai, Chief Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources an Environment announced a number of important contents of that strategy, such as  defining goals from now until 2020, should step by step meet basically technical information infrastructure about the marine environment and resources; provide forecast information of natural disasters, climate change timely, reliable enough to serve socio-economic development of coastal and island areas; mitigate the degradation and depletion of natural resources and to curb the increasing pollution of coastal areas, islands; improving the adaptability to climate change, maintaining the ecological functions and biological productivity of marine ecosystems to protect marine biodiversity and resources; increase capacity and improve effective management for basic investigation activities and exploitation; use sustainable resources and protect the marine environment.

Research on basic investigation of resources and the marine environment is to precede one step, especially for the island, the first island clusters; development of predictive capacity, disaster warning, impact of climate change on the seas; exploitation and rational use of marine space and controlling the pollution sources of the marine environment and etc. Vision to 2030 there will be a basic understanding of the potential resource - the environment, the advantages and disadvantages from Vietnam sea regions and adjacent international nations; prevent, repel environmental pollution and degradation, depletion resource, decline in marine biodiversity.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said that strategic exploitation, sustainable use of natural resources and protection of the marine environment to 2020 and vision 2030 was approved by Prime Minister. It is an important premise for us to continue to build the appropriate steps to exploit sustainable marine environmental resources effectively. However, he also called for ministries, international organizations needing to comment more deeply in order to provide solutions, specific activities to achieve strategic objectives, bringing Vietnam soon to become a powerful nation on the sea, to get rich from the sea. However, it keeps the environment healthy with economic sectors getting little pollution, greenhouse gas emissions.
