The first Vietnamese female scientist received UNESCO award
According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in France, Dr. Tran Ha Lien Phuong, Lecturer in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of International University of Ho Chi Minh National University was honored the award "talented young scientist of the world "by L'Oréal-UNESCO Fund (for the development of women in science) awarded.

This is the first time a Vietnamese female scientists was honored to receive this award.

Dr. Tran Ha Lien Phuong is one of the 15 female scientists who selected from 236 worldwide candidates.

Her study of micelles system contains fucoidan applied in the treatment of cancer with high curable potentiality, low cost and less side effects.

The study used nanotechnology that she and her colleagues conducted to open up a new treatment by bringing drugs to place of cancer cells that don’t affect other healthy cells.

Speaking at a press conference before the awards ceremony, L'Oréal - UNESCO Representatives said every woman won the award she is a shining example of science. They proved that women can contribute greatly to the advancement of science - an area where men still dominate.

For the purpose of honoring outstanding female scientists and supporting talented young researchers of the world, so far L'Oréal Award-UNESCO scientific award program has honored 2,250 talented women in more than110 countries.
