Basic research projects include the fields of social sciences and humanities, such as philosophy, religion, sociology, political science, economics, law, history, archaeology, ethnography, school area, international learning, psychology, education, literature, linguistics, cultural studies, art studies, journalism, media, economic and social geography.

Objects will receive funding are Vietnam science and technology organizations; foreign organizations operate in Vietnam with the function of scientific research; foreign institutions participate research cooperation with Vietnam science and technology institutions.

Especially, the individuals are Vietnamese scientist; foreign scientists participate in collaborative research with science and technology institutions, Vietnam scientists.

According to Nafosted, funding is to create a research environment to promote basic science research of science and technology organizations in Vietnam. Thereby, contribute to creating high level science and technology human resources, improve quality of science research towards international standards.
