At the meeting, the two sides agreed between Vietnam and Mozambique have a long term relationship and all have similarities, that is agriculture still plays a key role in the economy; Are the countries most vulnerable to climate change and etc. However, the two countries have a lot of potential to cooperate and support each other in agricultural development. The two sides have signed a Government-level Agreement on Agricultural Cooperation in 2008. The project "Food crops development research cooperation in Mozambique for the period 2013-2017" is initiated under this Agreement, supported by Mozambique by MARD. According to Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong, after 3 years of implementation, the project has initially brought some results in enhancing research and development capacity of food crops, food plants, applying mechanization in agriculture.

Mozambique has a large land resource, with the advantages of developing industrial and forestry crops such as coconut, cotton, soybean and sugarcane and etc. These are products that Vietnam are in great demanding. Meanwhile, Vietnam has more varieties of rice, maize and sweet potato, which can be shared with Mozambique to boost production. Ambassador Gamililel Munguambe shared that cooperation on agricultural development was also a content that Mozambican was interested and wanted to have a working session with MARD during the visit to Vietnam is expected in late July/2017.
