Vietnam signed satellite data exchange agreement with Japan

With this agreement, the Japanese side will provide products of Vietnam’s territory for research and application development.

On September 18, the Space Center of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology signed an agreement on satellite data exchange with the Japan Aerospace Research and Development Agency (JAXA).
This agreement aims to support the DataCube program in Vietnam - the large data base of Earth observation satellites to develop applications related to rice and forest monitoring and water quality as well as to promote use satellite data in the above areas.
Accordingly, the Japan Agency for Aerospace Research and Development will supply ScanSAR ALOS-2 products of the Vietnamese territory. The Vietnam Space Center will operate and maintain the Vietnam DataCube system to store and promote the use of ALOS-2 data in the application areas.
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in the development of research and application through the use of earth observation products, not only of ALOS-2 satellite but also of other satellites and available data in the system.
Activities under this agreement are commenced as soon as the two parties sign and continue their implementation within two years (9 / 2017-9 / 2019). |
