According to statistics from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam now has over 24,000 Ph.D. Meanwhile, MOET figures show that in the academic year 2016-2017, the country has 16,514 university teachers who are doctoral. MOET has recently approved a budget of 14 trillion dong to train 9,000 Ph.Ds following the 911 project.
According to MOET, the 911 project (PhD training for college and university education institutions) will be implemented from 2010 to 2020. The basic objective of the project is to increase the scale and quality to train doctors for universities and colleges, strive to train at least 20,000 PhDs by 2020. Of which, 10,000 doctors will be trained full time in foreign countries, 10,000 doctors will be trained in the country, 3,000 doctors will be trained in the form of joint training.
