March 12, in Hanoi, representatives of senior officials in the GMS included Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, China and Vietnam, together with representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), met in preparation for the GMS Summit will be held March 29-31, 2018 in Hanoi. At the meeting, the parties discussed the agenda, the contents of the documents that would be submitted to the leaders and arrangements for the reception, logistics and press of the Conference.
The GMS was initiated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1992. The members of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) include Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, China and Vietnam. GMS cooperation aims to promote and facilitate mutually beneficial economic cooperation among Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and two Yunnan and Guangxi provinces (China), bring the expanded Mekong sub-region to a rapidly growing and prosperous region. |
