Mid 2018, My Xuong cooperative in Dong Thap province applied the blockchain to manage and access the origin of Cat Chu mango variety. Just scan the QR code on the product, users can know the process of production, packaging, shipping, distribution or use of the product and etc.

The advantage of blockchain that it is stored and effectively secured without being able to interfere with editing, thus avoiding the problem of product correction and fraud when reaching consumers. By adopting this technology, all transactions in the agricultural value chain will become public and transparent.

In addition, blockchain is an important market access tool and helps increase supply chain management. Technology helps check the consumption of agricultural products and inventories, thus farmers can verify the true value of the crop, anticipate consumers’ demand in a specific time, and at the same time optimize production process.

Vietnam is evaluated to have potential in agricultural production and development. Export of agricultural products in the country has continuously increased on a strong growth, contributed significantly to increasing export turnover and improved the trade balance. In 2017, agricultural export value reached more than 36.5 billion USD. In 2018, this figure is expected to be over 40 billion USD.

The poor quality situation of agricultural products is labeled with low cost, unclear origin, make the value of the lost Vietnamese agricultural products compared to neighboring countries. International competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products compared to foreign brands is limited when 80% of our country's agricultural products are exported through intermediaries by foreign "brands".

The potential of blockchain is greatly appreciated, it can bring about many positive changes for people. This technology and its applications will be shared at the Smart Tech for Smart Living workshop, within the framework of the Excellent Technology Product Award Vote Program 2018.
