Rosatom and Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding for the Nuclear Science and Technology Center
MOSKVA (Sputnik) - «Rosatom» has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietnam to implement a project for building Nuclear Science and Technology Center in Vietnam.

The document was signed on the sidelines of talks between Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc, which took place in Moscow on Wednesday.

Memorandum of Understanding signed by General Manager of Rosatom State Alexei Likhachev Group and Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam Chu Ngoc Anh.

Russia and Vietnam in November 2011 signed a cooperation agreement to build a Nuclear Science and Technology Center, including a research nuclear reactor, laboratory, equipment and necessary infrastructure. In June 2017, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to coordinate the implementation plan of the Center.

Currently, Russian-Vietnamese consultations are being conducted on the next steps of the project, discussing the construction of a draft contract. The Vietnamese side is expected to use a state loan from the Russian Federation to equip the Center.
