With the speedy research process, the "made in Vietnam" vaccine project to prevent SARS-CoV-2 virus was implemented by Vabiotech's scientists with the sponsorship of VinIF Innovation Fund (Vingroup Group), with the prospect of "reaching the finish" soon.
Master Mac Van Trong of Vaccine and Biological Products No. 1 Limited Company (Vabiotech), Ministry of Health received a message from Dr. Do Tuan Dat (President of Vabiotech), said the project of his research and production of vaccines COVID-19 antivirus and colleagues "had results. Vaccines are relatively immunogenic."
Previously, on 15/5 and 29/5, 2 batches of serum samples of 50 mice vaccinated for COVID-19 vaccine were sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for evaluation.
By comparative injection with the inactivated wild virus strain of the mouse itself, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology determined that these serum samples provided antibody responses, some of which were relatively high.
With this result, Vabiotech has exceeded the 2-month progress of the first phase of the project, which is also the most important stage in the research and production of COVID-19 vaccine.
In the next stage, the self-recruited vaccine will be developed into a complete, stable and qualified vaccine for human use. The team will also build a commercial production process that can scale production to millions or even tens of millions of doses.
According to Vabiotech's representative, this project is not limited to producing the vaccine that the whole world is looking forward to, the bigger goal is to increase the activeness of Vietnamese vaccine, especially pandemic vaccines. |
