After more than 54 years of development, CTU is not only a training unit for high quality human resources, but also a research and transfer facility for science and technology in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. In the period of 2012-2019, the university's students have implemented 700 scientific research projects, with a total budget of nearly  11.5 billion VND. Most of the projects have high applicability, winning many scientific research awards at all levels, such as Vietnam Young Science Talents; Holcim Prize (later renamed Insee Prize). This year, through the evaluation of the professional subcommittees, the school has selected 16 out of 29 valuable scientific research projects of students to award the "Scientific Research Students” Can Tho University.

At the recent Student Research Conference 2020 organized by the Can Tho University, representatives of authors and authors of award-winning projects shared useful research results. Typically, the projects "Improving the application of university entrance examination admissions on Android" by students from the Department of Information Technology and Communications. The objective of the project is to develop mobile applications to support the school's admissions counseling more effectively, with the functions: providing intuitive, easy-to-find admissions information on smartphones and individuals data encryption of user-supplied information.

Tran Van Ngoan, representative of the author group, said that every year, tens of thousands of candidates enroll in the school and most use smartphones, the research team implements this project to help candidates access the information. Enrollment information of the school is easy and fast, and at the same time saves the effort and cost of implementing the school's admissions consultancy. Currently the application has integrated some additional features, such as voice input in the Chatbot section, allowing users to contact advice via facebook or hotline ...

According to Assoc.Prof. Dr. Le Nguyen Doan Khoi, Deputy Head of Science Management Department of the university, scientific research is a key activity that is very concerned by the school leadership. Before 2009, scientific research activities in students were very few, only a few project implemented. Since 2012, the number and quality of projects  of students have been increasing, in parallel with the funding of the University. Each year the school spends at least 1 billion for scientific research students. In parallel, officials and lecturers of the units support students to exploit scientific research activities to implement ideas, thereby creating more motivation to promote the scientific research movement, arouse a passion for creative research in students.

Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Hien, Vice Rector of Can Tho University, said: By 2020, 100% of high quality graduate students must have scientific research projects. The school spends money, creating favorable conditions for children to participate in research and creation. The university encourages publications, especially international ones, to create a brand not only for the individual but also for the Can Tho Universiy. "In the coming time, the university will continue to create favorable conditions for the units, faculties and departments to play an active role in supporting scientific students, creating favorable conditions and promoting scientific research activities among students," Mrs. Hien said.
