On July 15, the Korean NAVER technology corporation announced a research and training cooperation with Hanoi Polytechnic University in the project "Global AI Research Belt (Global AI R&D Belt)."
The project was officially launched by NAVER in October 2019 to connect scholars, universities, start-ups and research laboratories for professional exchange and cooperation in AI technology development. NAVER expects this project to be a counterbalance to AI programs of "giants", such as Google and Amazon of the US; Alibaba and Baidu of China.
By the end of 2019, Naver Labs Europe in Paris, including 4 AI research institutes acquired by Naver since 2017, was formed.
In early 2020, NAVER started promoting meetings with reputable technology experts and universities in Vietnam to implement the project "Global AI Research Belt" here.
Through many discussions, NAVER decided to choose Hanoi Polytechnic University as the first unit to cooperate with Hanoi Polytechnic University ranked 4th in Southeast Asia (after National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Hanoi Malaya University) in the field of Engineering and Technology as the latest publication of Times Higher Education.
According to the content of the cooperation, the two sides will open an AI research and training center on the campus of Hanoi Polytechnic University. In addition, NAVER is committed to investing and providing students with the Hanoi Polytechnic University with the optimal curriculum with leading experts on AI of the group and research and working opportunities at Naver Labs Korea and Europe.
NAVER will also support Hanoi Polytechnic University researchers, lecturers and students to develop their expertise through scientific exchange programs and workshops. |
