Attending and directing the workshop, there were Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat, leaders and a number of standing members of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, the Law Committee of the National Assembly, leaders of direct editing agencies of the Law project, including Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of NOIP, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Deputy Director of NOIP; Mrs. Pham Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Director of the Copyright Office; and Mrs. Tran Thi Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production and more than 120 delegates from ministries, sectors, localities, enforcement agencies, associations, research institutes, universities, enterprises.
The workshop was held within the framework of the Development of the Financial and Intellectual Property Sector in Southeast Asia (FSIP) Project under the UK's Prosperity Fund with the aim of expanding cooperation with Vietnam in the IP field to strengthen the role of IP in innovation activities.
Opening his speech at the Workshop, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat said that through the results from the workshop in Hanoi, consultation activities can be seen in the form of workshops and seminars to directly exchange and record comments from related agencies, organizations and individuals. It is a very effective communication channel besides collecting opinions in the form of documents. Therefore, he hopes that at this worksop, valuable comments will continue to be discussed, especially issues in the policy on facilitating the process of copyright registration, related rights, procedures for establishing industrial property rights, ensuring adequate and balanced levels of protection in intellectual property rights or enhancing the effectiveness of activities to support and enforce intellectual property.
The workshop received comments from 26 participants with many different contents, covering all fields, from comments related to the term, concept, or content of the regulations, mechanisms, problems and difficulties that may be encountered when applying regulations in practice.
Concluding at the Workshop, Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property acknowledged the useful contributions from agencies and organizations and will continue to work with representatives of the Copyright Office, Department of Crop Production to study and quickly complete the draft to submit to the Ministry of Justice for appraisal, then submit it to the Government before submitting it to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly in August 2021 and submitting to the National Assembly for comments at the session in October 2021. |
