On September 14, at the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications, and the delegation had a working session with the National University of Ho Chi Minh City on issues of developing information technology and communication human resources.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City, in the period 2017 - 2022, the field of information technology - telecommunications has 2,063 articles in the Scopus database, accounting for 14.6% of the total 7,334 articles of the whole Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City is training 20 majors in information technology and related majors. All training programs are accredited by ABET, CTI - ENAEE, AUN - QA and use a learning management system called Moodle or Blackboard.
Each year, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City provides more than 5,000 bachelors, engineers, masters and doctorates with high professional qualifications in the field of information technology to Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces.
In 2022, Vietnam needs about 530,000 IT workers. The number of personnel shortages in the information technology industry can be up to 150,000 employees.
The shortage of personnel is partly due to the gap between the qualifications of the graduates and the requirements of the business. Currently, 30% of information technology students meet the skills and requirements of businesses. |
