Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed that, with the pioneering mission in training and researching social work in Vietnam, strengthening the promotion international cooperation, grasping the necessity of society in terms of social work needs, the Faculty of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has coordinated with partners to organize international conference with the theme "Make a difference - Social work without barriers: Towards sustainable development and respond to emergencies". Implement the true motto of social work "leaving no one behind", the workshop will explore different aspects of barrier-free social work in the context of adapting to sustainable development and responding to emergencies.

In Vietnam, social work has been affirming its role in helping individuals, families and communities in need, towards ensuring social security for the entire people, comprehensively according to the overall goal of the Party and State of Vietnam. With the aim of providing an overall picture of education and social work development in line with sustainable development goals, the Faculty of Sociology was assigned the responsibility of organizing the workshop by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
