Fixed microalgae culture technology on Twin - Layer system and functional food production application
On August 25, 2023, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City held a workshop on "Fixed microalgae farming technology on Twin - Layer system and application of functional food production". This is one of the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Technology Exchange in 2023, implemented by Science and Technology Information and Statistics Center (CESTI, under Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology), with 2 forms: directly at No.79 Truong Dinh, Ben Thanh ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City and combined online on the Google Meet platform. Attending the seminar, on the side of the Organization Board, there were Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan - Acting Director of CESTI.


The workshop attracted more than 200 delegates to attend directly at No.79 Truong Dinh, Ben Thanh ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan - Acting Director of CESTI shared that the weekly technology livestream workshop is a program within the framework of the 2023 Technology Exchange activities organized by the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, in which CESTI is an implementing agency.

Also according to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, called the "superfood" of the future, microalgae - very small algae that can only be observed under a microscope, not only used as food but also widely used in many fields, such as medicine, cosmetics, animal husbandry... The increasing demand for microalgae has led to the development of the algae farming industry in Vietnam as well as in the world, many institutes, businesses, even some small-scale production facilities in Vietnam have successfully cultivated and commercialized products from microalgae.

At the workshop, shared about the project "Cultivating microalgae by two-layer membrane system" directly researched by him and his colleagues. Prof. Dr. Michael Melkonian - University of Cologne Federal Republic of Germany, founder of CCAC said, this is the solution to help solve the difficulties in cost, yield, quality and type of microalgae. Thereby increasing the scale, quality and application of industrial production. In addition, microalgae are also extracted to create high-value compounds, such as natural pigments, antioxidants, proteins, lipids, vitamins and micro-minerals... used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and foods. supplementary products.
