Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Kien Giang province, Nguyen Xuan Niem, said that the work of supporting startups and building an innovation ecosystem in the province with the goal of informing, propagating, encouraging and promoting the spirit of creativity and startup; Support individuals and technology start-up groups; support the passion to start a business right from the beginning of the idea through the provision of support services and activities to improve individual capacity, incubator groups perfecting ideas for startup project implementation; Support training, and commercialization of innovative products and services. Through the process of coordinating with departments and agencies to implement in recent years, certain results have been achieved.

Every year, the Department of Science and Technology launches and organizes the competition of innovation skills at the provincial and grassroots levels. Accordingly, 12 innovative contests were organized, attracting a large number of students, businesses, organizations, individuals and groups of startups to participate with 335 ideas/projects.

Through screening many initial ideas, the contest organization Board invited start-up experts to train the participating teams on methods, skills in writing project descriptions and presentations, then marking the contest through many rounds of selecting excellent ideas/projects to the final round to award prizes.
