Promote research excellence at universities
On June 28, in Ho Chi Minh City, the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City National University to organize a scientific conference "Promoting breakthrough and excellent research at universities and research institutes in Ho Chi Minh City.”

At the workshop, scientists emphasized that over the past 10 years, Vietnam's scientific and technological research capacity and quality have developed strongly.

The number of works published in prestigious international scientific journals (international articles) in Vietnam increases by about 20% each year; The number of young scientists presiding over national and equivalent science and technology tasks has increased sharply in numbers at universities and research institutes throughout the country.

The above encouraging results are the basis for the country's science industry to aim for higher goals, including investing in long-term, interdisciplinary, breakthrough, and excellent research.

According to Professor Dr. Phan Bach Thang, Director of the Center for Research on Nanostructured and Molecular Materials, Ho Chi Minh City National University, science and technology, higher education and innovation plays a key role in socio-economic development in countries, especially developed countries.

In the knowledge economy, science and technology, higher education and innovation provide knowledge, human resources and competitive factors for the economy.

Therefore, developing science and technology, higher education and innovation is not only considered the foundation for socio-economic development but has become an inevitable choice of many countries.

The development process of countries around the world has proven that whichever country holds and masters new technology and knowledge, that country will develop.
