Connecting and transferring technology in the Southern region
On July 19, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Ministry of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh CityNational University (VNU) coordinated and chaired the organization of a Workshop "Connecting technology transfer to institutes and schools in the Southern region". The workshop was organized into two sessions including: Technology transfer connection workshop for institutes and schools in the southern region and technology transfer connection workshop for departments and enterprises in the southern region.


Overview of the meeting

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, said Ho Chi Minh City has determined its vision to become a top research university system in Asia, a place to gather talent and spread Vietnamese knowledge and culture. To realize this vision, international cooperation is very important. Therefore, the cross-cutting theme of Ho Chi Minh City National University from 2021-2025 is "University autonomy, reaching international level".

Ho Chi Minh City National University determines the development strategy for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045 with key and breakthrough training and research groups including: Biotechnology, semiconductor technology, microchips, artificial intelligence, interdisciplinary science and technology. Ho Chi Minh City National University also identified a number of focuses including energy conversion, especially green energy; Advanced materials science and technology; climate change and sustainable development. These are four breakthroughs in the development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City National University. Recently, Ho Chi Minh City National University has deployed member and affiliated units to conduct a survey on cooperation needs related to science, technology and innovation, training with international partners.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy said that the Ministry of Science and Technology has built a network of representatives in 23 key areas of science and technology in 15 countries and territories, with extensive cooperation on science and technology with Vietnam. S&T representatives build and connect directly with Vietnamese and overseas Vietnamese scientists based on the needs of domestic institutes, schools, and businesses to introduce and learn about policies, experiences, and legal systems on science and technology development of countries to advise the Ministry of Science and Technology and domestic institutions and businesses in need; directly connect technological sources of research institutes, universities, and foreign businesses with domestic units.
