PreAct Project Strengthens “One Health” Capacity
In the morning of July 22, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the French Agricultural Research and Development Center (CIRAD) held the first consultation meeting on the Prezode Initiative to prevent diseases spreading from animals to humans.

Overview of the workshop

The Prezode Initiative has the participation of 27 member countries, of which Vietnam officially became a member in 2022.

Within the framework of this initiative, Vietnam will participate in a PreAct (Prezode in Act) action project consisting of three components: (i) Understanding zoonotic disease risks, (ii) Developing solutions to reduce disease risks, and (iii) Strengthening early warning systems to detect disease risks.

In addition, the project will also strengthen the “One Health” capacity of local agencies in Vietnam through risk assessment, surveillance and early detection of pathogens, and provide research demonstrating the intertwined economic and health benefits of adopting this approach.

The PreAct project will be implemented from 2025-2028, following completion of consultation and submission of the project framework for approval later this year.
