In the morning of July 30, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) received information about the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the International Chemistry Olympiad 2024 (ICHO) held in Saudi Arabia.
The Vietnamese national team had four students competing; as a result, all four won medals, including three Gold Medals and one Silver Medal. With this result, Vietnam ranked 2nd out of 89 participating countries and territories.
The three Gold Medals belonged to Nguyen Huu Tien Hung, grade 12, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province; Giap Vu Son Ha, grade 12, Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province; Tran Dang Khoi, grade 12, Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi.
Do Phu Quoc, grade 12, Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province, won the Silver Medal.
The 56th ICHO was held from July 21 to 30, 2024 with the participation of 327 contestants.
The exam includes a theory test and a practical test, each test is completed within 5 hours. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's practical test is assessed to have many new and topical points, requiring candidates to have the ability to think comprehensively and perform operational skills accurately. The theoretical test deals with the applications of chemistry in industry, environmental pollution treatment, advanced materials, etc. |
