In order to deploy new regulations in the field of intellectual property to agencies, units, organizations and enterprises in the city, contributing to improving the effectiveness of law enforcement; at the same time, helping organizations and individuals access and exploit the city's intellectual property development support policies, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam - Ministry of Science and Technology to organize a training course on "Handling intellectual property infringement and implementing new documents in the field of intellectual property", in the morning of August 9, 2024, at Ninh Kieu 2 Hotel (No. 03 Hoa Binh Avenue, Tan An Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City).

MSc. Tran Hoai Phuong - Deputy Director of Ca Tho City Department of Science and Technology delivered the opening speech of the training course.
In his opening speech, MSc. Tran Hoai Phuong - Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology said that Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology has actively and proactively implemented propaganda activities, disseminated legal policies, new documents on intellectual property, as well as provided guidance on establishing and protecting intellectual property rights to organizations and individuals in the city.
Dr. Ha Thi Nguyet Thu, officer of the Enforcement and Complaints Settlement Division - National Office of Intellectual Property, presented at the training course.
Mrs. Phuong said that in 2023, Can Tho City Market Management Department discovered 68 cases of counterfeiting trademarks; the City Police discovered 31 cases. The coordination of inspection and handling of intellectual property rights infringement has been drastically implemented to help prevent and handle acts of manufacturing, trading, and trading counterfeit goods and infringing intellectual property rights in the area. However, in the context of a rapidly developing e-commerce market, acts of intellectual property infringement are becoming more and more complicated and sophisticated, causing difficulties for authorities in handling.

The training course aims to provide, exchange, share knowledge, skills and experiences for participants on intellectual property rights, related violations, as well as how to apply and enforce new regulations in this field. Thereby, there are timely support policies for organizations, individuals and businesses, contributing to the economic and social development of the locality. |
