The project was chaired by the Institute for Regional Development Research and Consulting - Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. The study is carried by with Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vinh as the chair. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Dao - Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

The objective of the project is to assess the socio-economic and environmental status of Dong Thap province in the period of 2021 - 2025, analyze and forecast potential, and propose sustainable development solutions for the period of 2026 - 2030. The research focuses on socio-economic and environmental indicators from 2016 to 2024 (estimated for 2025), comparing with 12 provinces/cities in the Mekong Delta according to the sustainable development framework, thereby proposing appropriate solutions and policies. The results will be applied in the development of socio-economic and environmental development strategies and policies for the period of 2026 - 2030 in Dong Thap province.

At the meeting, the council members highly appreciated the capacity of the organization and the researcht team, as well as the practicality of the project. However, to ensure the quality of implementation, the implementation team needs to make some adjustments, such as closely following the approved objectives; reviewing and eliminating duplicate content; clarifying the coordination method in transferring project results; supplementing the comparison according to the socio-economic development framework with the Mekong Delta and the whole country; and supplementing the research method to identify potential and identify bottlenecks in development.

In conclusion, the council unanimously approved the explanation and recommended that the presiding agency, research team edit and supplement the explanation file to submit to the Department of Science and Technology to conduct budget appraisal according to regulations.
