Using Trichoderma sp. antagonistic fungus to treat rice straw contributes to environmental protection
Straw, after each rice harvest, is often burned, causing serious environmental pollution. To solve this problem, the use of antagonistic fungi Trichoderma sp. has become the optimal method, not only helping to treat straw but also creating a source of organic fertilizer for the soil.

From 2021 to 2024, Vinh Phuc Center for Application and Innovation has implemented a research project to produce 12 tons of Trichoderma sp. to treat straw and diseases in vegetable growing soil. Trichoderma sp. fungus has the ability to decompose cellulose, making the composting process faster and reducing odors.
The straw treatment technique applied in the project includes the use of 500gr of Trichoderma sp. for every 1000m² of field, combined with 1kg of phosphate as basal fertilizer. After harvest, the straw is soaked in water for 1-2 days, then phosphate is spread and the preparation is sprayed on the surface. All straw is buried in the soil, and the soil is worked immediately after sprinkling the preparation for best results.
This method not only helps to enhance the decomposition of straw into organic humus, but also improves soil fertility, reduces organic poisoning and increases the ability to provide nutrients for crops. Processing straw in the field also helps to reduce weed growth and naturalize the cultivation process.
Trichoderma sp., with its biological origin and environmental friendliness, promises not only to bring economic benefits to farmers but also to contribute to sustainable environmental protection.
