To promote innovative startups, since 2021, the Department of Science and Technology has organized about 30 capacity building training courses for 1,000 learners. Every year, the Department supports an average of 30 innovative startups projects through promotion at major events, such as Techfest Vietnam and Techmart. In 2023, Can Tho ranked 5th in the Local Innovation Index with a score of 49.66, demonstrating development in indicators of infrastructure, knowledge products, innovation and technology.

The science and technology market is also developing synchronously, modernly and integratedly through promotional activities such as industry exhibitions, connecting technology supply and demand. Can Tho Technical Center for Standards, Metrology and Quality has carried out many tasks in areas such as environment and food safety, supporting about 5,000 agencies and businesses each year in product quality management.

The City Science and Technology Information Center has actively provided more than 60,000 pieces of science and technology news and 53,000 specialized documents. The Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances has coordinated with experts to successfully transfer many technologies and technical processes in agriculture and the environment. As of September 2024, the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technology Incubator has supported 11 enterprises in the incubation process.

Can Tho is gradually affirming its position as a center connecting science, technology and innovation in the Mekong Delta region.
