Applying change management standards helps organizations enhance competitive advantage and minimize risks
Change management has evolved over the past 25 years, particularly in the information technology (IT) field, to minimize disruption to operations when making changes to critical systems and services.

An effective change management process is not only necessary but also critical for information security, helping organizations protect sensitive assets during the transformation of systems, processes and technology. This process includes several stages, such as preparing for change, creating a clear vision, implementing and consolidating the change and finally reviewing and analyzing the results achieved.
During the preparation phase, it is important to understand and communicate the change to employees and stakeholders. Managers then need to develop a detailed implementation plan, set specific goals, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and assign tasks. The implementation phase requires good management and communication to ensure everyone is on board.
Once changes have been implemented, monitoring and reinforcing them is essential to ensure that the changes have been received and that the impact on the organization is positive. Finally, a post-project evaluation helps determine whether the change was successful, and lessons learned for future changes. A structured change management process brings many benefits to an organization, such as improved internal communication, increased employee productivity, and a more positive work environment. Clarity about the change process reduces employee anxiety and boosts morale by making employees feel valued throughout the transition.
Implementing a change management process is just the beginning. Once you have started the process, you need to ensure that you sustain the process and reinforce the benefits. The next phase of the change journey requires vigilance and reinforcement. Now is the time to strengthen people’s skill sets, refine the process, and use change readiness to reinforce change. Applying change management principles before, during, and after a project can help achieve the desired results. However, the ultimate test of success will be the customer – they are the best measure of how well an organization’s processes are working. A successful change program will have a positive impact on the customer experience, and great customer experiences have a positive impact on an organization’s profit.
