Intellectual property education for the younger generation
On March 25, at the workshop “Sharing experiences in intellectual property education for high school students in Vietnam”, Ms. Tedla Altaye, Head of Online Training Department of WIPO Academy, emphasized that intellectual property is not simply a right or protection mechanism, but also an essential aspect of creativity.

She said many brilliant ideas often struggle to reach the market and are at risk of being copied without permission. Lack of protection stifles innovation, so there is a need to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property in encouraging creative development.
Mr. Luu Hoang Long, Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, also shared about the National Office's efforts in promoting and improving knowledge about intellectual property for the community, especially the youth. However, intellectual property education for high school students is still a new issue and has not been implemented in a synchronous and regular manner. Therefore, he emphasized the need to include this content in the curriculum from the early school level to help the future generation develop creative thinking.
To effectively implement intellectual property education activities, the Intellectual Property Office and relevant agencies need the support of businesses and social entities. Creating an intellectual property culture in the community not only contributes to raising awareness but also fulfills important tasks in the Intellectual Property Strategy to 2030. Through this, we can develop a generation of innovators who are able to exploit their ideas for economic benefit.
