Acceptance of the task of manufacturing equipment for monitoring the aquatic environment using self-propelled equipment
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology has just organized an Acceptance Advisory Council for a scientific and technological task called “Research, design and manufacture of self-propelled aquaculture water environment monitoring equipment using robotic technology and IoT connectivity”.

This task is chaired by the Institute of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change. It was carried out by Dr. Vu Trong Bach. Monitoring the aquaculture water environment is very important, helping farmers to monitor and promptly detect negative impacts, and at the same time providing data to management agencies to assess the impact of aquaculture activities on the environment.
In Can Gio district, the construction of fixed monitoring stations is very expensive in terms of investment and maintenance costs. Therefore, the district requested the development of a mobile aquatic environmental monitoring device, capable of autonomous operation on water to conduct offshore sampling. This device needs to operate according to a pre-programmed program of coordinates and time, and must have IoT connectivity to monitor and set up real-time monitoring programs.
In the acceptance report, Dr. Vu Trong Bach said that the team had successfully manufactured a self-propelled water environment monitoring device, including a self-propelled boat and a control handle. The device was tested for its self-propelled capability at Hoa An Lake (Dong Nai) and the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center - Southern branch.
The boat has dimensions of 1200x350x170 mm, weighs 15 kg, is capable of taking samples at specific coordinates, operates at a speed of 5-10 km/h and has a control range of up to 500m. The device can operate continuously for 3 hours and has a maximum sampling depth of 60 cm, fully meeting the monitoring standards according to QCVN 02-19:2014/BNNPTNT.
